Whether relatives may maintain a grave themselves depends strongly on the grave type. Clarify this before purchasing plants, containers or permanent decorations.
Graves maintained by relatives
The city’s overview specifies self-maintenance for individual, family and children’s graves, the Muslim burial field and urn graves measuring 120 × 120 cm or 60 × 60 cm. Rights holders remain responsible for a dignified and safe condition; memorials and surrounds may require approval.
Areas without private grave care
No private grave care is intended for:
- communal earth graves
- urn walls
- natural urn graves
- anonymous urn field
- “Community” and “Partner” tree-and-meadow graves
- urn stelae
- indoor and outdoor columbaria
The cemetery administration is responsible for the shared design or care. Displayed photographs and candles are prohibited for several of these types; small floral arrangements may be restricted to the funeral and to a maximum size of 30 × 30 cm.
