Grave types

The city’s June 2026 overview identifies 15 grave types at Waldfriedhof Senden. The figures below are grave-use fees only at the date stated in that document; burial and other administrative services may add further costs. Confirm current availability and the total cost with the cemetery office.

Graves maintained by relatives

• Individual grave: up to two coffin and four urn burials; renewable right of use; €1,960.
• Family grave: up to four coffin and six urn burials; renewable right of use; €2,972.
• Children’s grave: one coffin and up to two urn burials for children under twelve; renewable right of use; €1.
• Muslim burial field: one coffin burial; paths and graves allow orientation towards Mecca; renewable right of use; €1,594.
• Urn grave, 120 × 120 cm: up to six urns; renewable right of use; €1,661.
• Urn grave, 60 × 60 cm: up to three urns; renewable right of use; €1,517.

For these six types, the city states that relatives are responsible for maintaining the grave. Memorials and surrounds may require approval.

Graves without private maintenance

• Urn-wall grave: burial in the ground at the foot of the wall, with a second urn possible for a relative; renewable right of use; name plaque possible; €2,020.
• Anonymous urn field: one urn, without an individual memorial or name at the burial place; not renewable; €1,096.
• Communal earth grave: one coffin burial, with a name plaque possible and care by the cemetery administration; not renewable; €2,726.
• “Community” tree-and-meadow grave: up to four urns in a communal setting, with a name plaque possible and care by the cemetery administration; renewable; €1,216.
• “Partner” tree-and-meadow grave: up to two urns in a stainless-steel tube with an inscribed cover plate, with care by the cemetery administration; renewable; €1,556.
• Urn stele: one urn in the ground around the stele, with a name plaque possible and care by the cemetery administration; not renewable; €1,722.
• Natural urn grave: one urn beneath the crown of a tree, with a name plaque possible and care by the cemetery administration; €1,170.
• Indoor columbarium: up to two urns per chamber in a side area of the funeral hall, with a name plaque possible and care by the cemetery administration; renewable; €2,356.
• Outdoor columbarium: up to two urns per niche, with a name plaque possible and care by the cemetery administration; renewable; €2,183.

The overview also prohibits displayed photographs and candles at the urn wall, communal earth grave, “Community” grave, urn stele, natural urn grave and both columbaria. Some types permit small floral arrangements only in connection with the funeral.

Conflicting information about the natural urn grave

The city’s June 2026 overview describes the right of use for the natural urn grave as renewable. The cemetery regulations from 2022 that remain linked by the city list this type among those that cannot be renewed. Ask the cemetery office to clarify the current rule in writing before making a decision.

Resting periods

A resting period does not imply an indefinitely renewable right of use. Row graves are also being discontinued: new burials are no longer permitted and the final right of use ends in 2033. Consult the cemetery administration before making a decision.
